Family Action - Talking Point Plus
Family Action Talking Point Plus is an Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service which provides counselling and therapeutic support for anyone aged 13-19 (up to 25 with additional difficulties) living in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
Our service is to support young people from Universal up to Tier 2. We can help them with the following:
- Stress, sadness, anger, worry and other difficult feelings
- Risk taking, self-harm and other behavioural issues
- Family relationship breakdown
- Difficulties engaging with school, college or work
- A recent traumatic life event
If a young person has entrenched long term issues from childhood, psychosis, suicide ideation, eating disorders, sexual abuse – we would look to external agencies to sign-post referrals on for longer term specialist support.
We are a brief intervention service offering six sessions. Additional sessions (no more than 12 sessions) will be authorised if any of the below is evident throughout working:
Safeguarding – possible self harm or harm to others or significant increase in child’s vulnerability
Risk – significant deterioration of mental health and wellbeing/ self harm/ risk of significant deterioration/ disruption to everyday life/ risk of undermining or weakening of ‘protective factors’
Intensity – more time needed to help the child to address issues
Complexity – more time needed to address range of complex issues
Mid or end term disclosures which are required to be addressed imminently
All of the above to be considered;
- while making a referral to appropriate alternative services for continued and more specialised support if necessary or;
- if additional time makes it possible to de-escalate problems and issues so a child no longer needs specialist support/intervention
